Anne Robinson, infamous for her cutting remarks The Weakest Link, is to become the first female host of Countdown. The news that TV presenter Anne Robinson is to be the new host of Countdown has not be welcomed by all, especially by those who have endured the wrath of her infamous razor-sharp tongue, including some Devon contestants. Following the announcement in December that Nick Hewer would be departing from the show after a decade in the hot seat, Channel 4 have confirmed this week that Anne is to become its first female host. Anne fronted BBC shows Watchdog and Points Of View during the s, 90s and 00s, but is best known for her put-downs to contestants on The Weakest Link, which she hosted from until This included the catchphrase "You are the weakest link, goodbye" said to each contestant as they were voted off after each round. However, it seems that future contestants on Countdown may not have to fear the the infamous queen of mean. Speaking on Monday's episode of Steph's Packed Lunch, Anne said she is planning to "tone down my nastiness".
